Countdown Timer

Calculate the time remaining until a target date and time.

How is this result calculated?

The target date and time you enter are combined into a single instant, then compared to your device's current time: gap = |target instant − now|. That gap, expressed in milliseconds, is then broken down into whole days, hours, minutes and seconds.

If the target instant has already passed, the gap represents the time elapsed since that deadline rather than the time remaining until it — the result states this clearly. "Now" is the time of the browser displaying the page, and it refreshes every second for as long as the page stays open.

Frequently asked questions

How often does the countdown update?+

Every second, for as long as the page stays open. The result (days, hours, minutes, seconds) is continuously recalculated from your device's current time, with no need to reload the page.

What happens if the target date has already passed?+

The calculator makes it clear: instead of time remaining, it shows the time elapsed since that date and time, with no blocking error. You can change the date at any time to set a new, future deadline.

How does the shareable link work?+

The "Copy shareable link" button builds this page's URL with the target date and time encoded in the ?date= parameter, then copies it to your clipboard. Anyone who opens that link sees the form automatically pre-filled with the same deadline.

Which time zone is used for the calculation?+

The device and browser time zone of whoever is viewing the page — not a fixed time zone. If you share a link with someone in a different time zone, the target date and time stay the same, but the displayed time remaining is calculated against each person's local time.

What is this countdown timer useful for?+

A product or offer launch, an event (wedding, concert, webinar), a work or administrative deadline, an exam, or simply counting down to an important day.
